Serbia ready for discussions

Sanda Raskovic-Ivic said that Serbia is prepared to continue Kosovo status discussions.

The stance of the United Nations Security Council is to have talks between Belgrade and Pristina continued after Martti Ahtisaari’s status proposal, in order to find a solution of compromise for Kosovo’s status, said the President of the Kosovo Coordination Center.

She said that 12 out of 15 UN Security Council member countries believe that Ahtisaari’s proposal will be nothing more than a good basis for starting up new discussions.

“And that is why we should not be making deadlines, at least not in Serbia, saying that the solution will be announced in March or June, because I am sure that it will not be. I am not going to say that the disagreements will last for the next 30 years, but it is a fact that within the international community, there have been changes on the stance regarding deadlines.” Sanda Raskovic-Ivic said.

She also told daily Blic that Serbia will ask for the discussion rounds to be frequent and to start with discussions of security and return issues.
